Part 6

I feel that in our opening sequence we was able to reach out to our target audience. This is because of a few things such as the characters. Our target audience was teenagers because the main characters where teenagers also teenagers they will be able to relate to them. Also the theme of love and break up is something teenagers are experiencing for the first time. In our planning we done a questionnaire to find our what an audience would expect from a thriller. We found that most of questionnaire participants had some involvement with sports or dance, which we thought would be hard to incorporate with a thriller. We got a lot of feedback that was hard to incorporate into our thriller however some was helpful.

From our audience feedback what was good was the ‘CCTV and train station scene’ . Also that with are camera work there was a ‘good use of angles’. As well they thought the ‘unsteady camera’ at the beginning worked well. They thought that the ‘flashback was good’ how ever it ‘could of gone on for longer’. Another weakness they said was the fact that the music was the same through out. It was ‘scary not as scary as a thriller’ as well it would have been better to ‘fade the music at the end better’. Finally another thing they thought could have been changed was the amount of shots of them walking down the stairs, ‘cut some scenes walking down the stairs’. Finally from our feedback what was clear to the audience was the narrative, everyone understood it was an ex-boyfriend. As well they all new what sub genre of thriller it was just from the first 2 minutes.

Overall I feel the way our opening could have been improved is by making the music more exciting, they said ‘it was scary but not as scary as you had it should be’. Also by making the music shorter at the end so it didn’t drag out longer than it needed to. Also I think that the editing of the stairs could have been more successful if we increased the pace of the editing or adding a different variety of shots so it wasn’t just there face and feet you saw.

Part 2

The target audience of our thriller opening is for ages 15-20, also we feel that it can appeal to both genders. Our thriller will appeal to most teenagers due to the fact that moist teenagers can relate to our main themes which are love, break up and obsession. However I feel that our thriller will appeal more to middle and working class teenagers rather than upper class because of the location, a train station.
The pre production research we done was made a survey on a website called survey monkey. We got 18 people to fill it out for us so we had a variety of answers to draw a conclusion from. The way we presented our feedback from the survey was as a power point using graphs and pie charts.
The way we used this was by evaluating the questions and discussing what answers and ideas given could be a good idea to incorporate into our thriller opening.
